2006 Winners
Each year the Board of Directors of the Erin Mills Soccer Club award a one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarship to two Erin Mills players in recognition of their contribution to the Club, community, and the development of soccer.
The scholarships are applied to their post secondary schooling and this year the Board is pleased to announce Mr. Brian Lum, Queens University and Miss Melissa Biggs, University of Cincinnati as the 2006 Scholarship recipients.
Melissa Biggs
Melissa has received a soccer scholarship at the University of Cincinnati as a result of her outstanding soccer skills and contribution to team success.
She has been a member of the 2nd place OYSL team, and the highly successful 2005 U18G team which won the Ontario Indoor Cup, Ontario Outdoor Cup and Canadian National Championship.
During the past four Melissa has been active in coaching 13/14 House League teams during the indoor season as well as coaching younger rep and select players during the Fall and Winter ADP training program.
Brian Lum
Brian graduated from Gordon Graydon High School and has entered Queen’s University in Concurrent Education leading to a teaching career.
He has been an active Erin Mills player since 1993 in Club programs from House League through O.Y.S.L and has coached House League teams since 2002.
In 2002 Brian received his referee credential as a level 4 official.
Brian has been very active in the community volunteering time with the Parks and Recreation C.A.C. summer program and since 2003 has worked as a mentor to children at Neil C. Matheson Public School.
He has devoted considerable time to his many high school activities participating in volleyball, rugby, and soccer as well various programs including the Outlook Conference and Investors of Tomorrow.
