Molly Streeter, Daniella Macri, Hilary Pearson, Alyssa Acorn and Lauren Howell Awarded 2009 Club and Genesis Scholarships

Erin Mills Soccer Club is pleased to announce the winners of its 2009 Club Scholarships and Genesis Scholarships.

The Erin Mills Scholarships have been awarded to Molly Streeter, Daniella Macri, and Hilary Pearson, all of Mississauga.

The Genesis Scholarships, generously donated by Genesis Massage and Physical Therapy Centre of Mississauga, have been awarded to Alyssa Acorn and Lauren Howell also of Mississauga.

The Erin Mills Scholarships are awarded to members of the club who have consistently demonstrated leadership and volunteer participation in soccer or elsewhere in the community.

Molly Streeter has been a long time member of Erin Mills Soccer Club. Molly played with our Erin Mills U18A Rep team last summer and is now playing for Valley University Grand Rapids, MI. Molly has been a volunteer and coach at the club for years. She has also volunteered as a junior swim instructor at the local community pool.

Daniella Macri, another long time Erin Mills member, has played with the club for over 13 years. As a volunteer in the clubs Micro Development Program, Daniella has been a coach and mentor to more than 180 four year old boys and girls. She attended Iona Catholic secondary School, where she captained her varsity soccer team. Daniella is attending Laurier University.

Hilary Pearson has been with Erin Mills Soccer Club for 10 years. She has played both indoor and outdoor soccer at the club. Hilary has performed up to 250 hours of community service during her high school years while maintaining a very high academic average. Hilary continues her studies at the University of Toronto, Mississauga campus.

Alyssa Acorn is a 10 year member of Erin Mills Soccer Club. As well has playing soccer, Alyssa is a top figure skater, holding her Gold Levels in Freeskate, Dance, Interprestive and Skills. After an injury took Alyssa away from the soccer pitch and the skating rink for 15 months, she began devoting herself to volunteering, becoming a Junior Leader for Girl Guides, Athletic Liaison, and manager for her schools junior soccer team. Alyssa is currently attending 3rd year at Sir Laurier University majoring in Communication Studies.

Lauren Howell played on an Erin Mills select team for over 8 years. In addition to holding down a part time job while at school, Lauren has participated in extra-curricular activities at school and in the community in various capacities. She attends Laurier University pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

Erin Mills Soccer Club is a volunteer club serving the western Mississauga. It offers a full range of house league and rep programs at all ages. Club teams have won four national championships in the last few years.
