Becoming A Match Official

 

This year, Match Official courses have been completely redesigned and will be delivered in a hybrid format consisting of an online module and an in-person session, hosted by Erin Mills Soccer Club. Once the online portion of the course has been completed, the referees will do an on-field, practical session with Club Head Referee Joe Cacciacarro. Small-Sided Referee Course (Hybrid)

Courses will be held on Saturday April 26th, 2025, 12:30 PM - 7:30 PM at 1290 Crestlawn Drive, Mississauga ON. 

 

The Small Sided Referee Course is for those who would like to become an accredited match official on 7v7 games and are 12 years of age (by March 31st of the current year) or older. Successful graduates are automatically registered with Ontario Soccer and do not have to register again until the following year. 

 

To register, create an EMSC PowerUp account, where you can paid online. Once payment is received, our Head Referee Joe will reach out to give you code to register on Ref Centre.

Entry Level Referee Course (Hybrid)

 

The Entry Level Referee Course is for those who would like to become an accredited match official for 9v9 and 11v11 games and are 14 years of age (by March 31st of the current year) and older. Successful graduates are automatically registered with Ontario Soccer and do not have to register again until the following year.

Courses will be held on Sunday April 27th, 2025, 8:45 AM - 5:00PM at 1290 Crestlawn Drive, Mississauga ON.

Match Official Kick Off Meeting (In-Person)​

Becoming a Match Official at EMSC

• Annual Match Official Kick Off Meeting is MANDATORY

• Certified Small Sided or Entry Level

​

Each Student MUST:

1. Complete several self-guided modules on the Laws (online)​

2. Attend a mandatory webinar

3. Small-Sided: All Law Review; Entry Level: Laws 11&12

4. Pass the exam

5. Attend a Practical Session (in-person)

6. Pass a signals test (online)
