Last weekend, Erin Mills Eagles U13 Girls playing up a year edged out a 2-1 win over the Richmond Hill Raiders in the 2019 Ontario Futsal Cup U14 Girls Final. This is the first Ontario Futsal Cup Championship for Erin Mills Soccer Club since the inception of this event in 2006. This was also the second gold medal for the U13 Girls this month after just capturing the 2019 Ontario Indoor Cup Championship on February 10.
Unlike the close score line suggests, the Eagles dominated the possession and pace of the game throughout to overcome their opponents. In their first meeting in the tournament the Eagles netted 6 goals past Richmond Hill giving them a taste of what was to come in the Ontario Futsal Cup Final at Durham College in Oshawa.
However, the final was more about the two teams’ strong defensive presence as they both pushed for goals. The two goals from the Eagles were scored by Jahkaya Davis and Olivia Blair. The final score of 2-1 sealed the championship for the Eagles making them 2019 Ontario Futsal Cup U14 Girls Champions.
